I am adding more pressure on the hold. I added a chin bop along with the "no" marker whenever he drops the dowel. He goes into avoidance immediately afterward, which tightens up his mouth and results in a stronger, steadier hold. I am throwing his reward now (string cheese in this video) so that he can release some stress in between dowel holds. This seems to be working wonderfully so far. I've also started to proof his hold by holding his reward in front of his face, if he keeps a good hold, he gets released and rewarded. If he drops the dowel to beg for the cheese, chin bop and re-hold the dowel. Smart puppy :-)
